Hey Guys – We receive a lot of emails with some really incredible stories – I am going to post some of them – but this is the place to tell it – if you have a story to share put it here! This is a time that we ALLL need to hear other people’s success stories! And as promised I will tell our story.

My personal Revelation was in August `09 when I bought tickets to the Journey Atlanta show. The excitement shook me to my core…I found my old self again, it helped me realize that I had lost the true Tina from 30 years ago. I was heavily influenced by music as a teen in the 70’s. At age 16 my parents divorced, I hit the streets where I lived on and off for a while, struggled to find my way for years. At 27 I finally got on track and here we are 21 years later. You see, life got in the way right when I was at that crucial point when you determine which road to take. My focus was solely on the road to survival and I left my true love of music behind.
Since that time life’s distractions pushed me further away from my true self….a drug addicted brother, a mother with no boundaries, and unkind father, a 21-year marriage that has been a struggle for me for reasons I can’t discuss at this moment.
My Journey “Journey” has helped to give me the inner strength I need to do what is best for me, what I want to do, not what others want me to do. One night at 3:00 a.m., I ran across the song Butterfly from the Generations album. “Behind her back, both wings tied, she will break free, she will not be denied.” Lyrics that now ring in my head daily.
Since August I’ve been Facebooking with Arnel and the others. Arnel has been an unbelievable inspiration for me. He is definitely paying it forward. I told him of my reawakening and asked if I could meet him at the Atlanta meet and greet. He said yes and would have my name on the list. Unfortunately, my name wasn’t on the list that night. The next day he Facebooked me and asked why I didn’t show. I explained to him my name wasn’t on the list but still wanted to thank them in person. I asked about the Orlando show and he said he would have a pass for me there.
So, uncharacteristically of me, I told my husband I was purchasing another ticket ($150), driving to Orlando, staying in a hotel and going to the concert by myself and meeting the band. And I did and god it felt good. Arnel sang Change for the Better to me and he knew it was what I needed.
Now that I’m older I have a true understanding of the inspiration behind their music. I have promised myself that I will not let this momentum die. I’m alive again. My friends have all noticed a difference in my personality. I feel in control of my happiness for the first time since I was a teen. I’m currently looking for a job that can connect me somehow with the music industry and keep me in touch with my true passion.
I am reclaiming my life and Journey will continue to be my inspiration. Tell Arnel, Butterfly says hi.

Hello all –
Thanks so much for doing this project! I’ve been a fan of the band for…oh…30 years or so and it’s great to see them getting this new attention.
And – I wish Arnel much success in his role as lead singer.
However – I would like to point out that the reason I came back to Journey after their 10 year hiatus…and the reason I’ve attended over 10 (15?) concerts in the last 8 years…is Steve Augeri.
After helping Journey basically rise from the dead, writing terrific new music with them (Arrival stands up to almost any album in Journey’s catalog), and touring year after year with them…it’s as if he never existed.
Journey didn’t have a revolving door of vocalists – they had Steve for over 8 years! Please. His voice (heard via YouTube) is as good today as it was when he toured with them…so why they chose to not take a year off for him to heal…only Neal knows for sure I imagine.
I saw what turned out to be their last show with Steve P. in Anchorage…and one of the very first shows with Steve A. in the Twin Cities. I was so excited to see Journey back on the road and embraced their work with Steve A. right away.
If you’ve read at all about Steve A., you’ll see that his story of joining the band is an inspiring tale all its own. Not to take away from Arnel at all, but it’s pretty interesting that both of these men have lived many of the lyrics they sing so well.
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Steve A. twice after their shows, and you will not find a more kind or gracious person in all of rock music. He seems to be a genuinely good person, and despite what I am sure is a mountain of legal agreements, I’ve not read a negative comment from him about the band.
So – I’m sure your contract with Neal and the rest of the band has some real specific language around this issue…but it’s a travesty. Although I’ve followed the band online (the old AOL site, the various incarnations of their web site and forums) for over 10 years…I can’t muster up the enthusiasm to go there hardly at all any more. I’m very happy that the band is getting some extremely *well-deserved* attention, and I do like their new CD (Revelation), but I guess I miss Steve and his charm.
I hope Arnel can handle Neal and his expectations. That may prove harder than hitting the high notes.

The highlight of my early musical experiences was one of the last concerts Journey performed back in ‘86 or ‘87 when the “Dawg” played with them. I will never forget that stadium in Boise Idaho, it was lit up almost entirely of Bic lighters, I bet Bic made a killing that night. The energy and excitement was more than any concert I had ever been to. Between singing along and cheering, we went home totally hoarse that night, and was for a day or two more. Later on in ‘89 I went to the Philippines to meet the girl I was married to till ‘08. I have to give SO much credit for shaping my life to my experiences in the Philippines and the Pinoy (their name) themselves. I am remarried again to a Filipina mainly because of my love for the Phil’s and the people, who I admire and respect for so many reasons. I saw Jonathon Cain comment on the passion Arnel has because of his struggle in life, but actually if you know these people as well as I do, you realize they are just innately passionate people, when they love, they love very deeply, that’s also why my wife is Pinay. There is another thing that is innate about Filipinos. Their talented, in many things. I have never seemed to be amazed at the extremely high number of people in the Phil’s that can sing! Karaoke is very popular there and for good reason, they can actually make it sound good and through another innate talent, make it FUN. After some coaxing from them, I discovered that I could sing along and have fun as well. I can’t get over how much fun I have whenever I am in the Phil’s! Their passion for life has been so deeply infused into my very heart and soul, so for me to see the likes of Arnel and Charice Pempengco make it here in the US made me feel so happy, ecstatic to be more exact. They are extremely underrated and minimalized in the world, so I leap for joy whenever I hear that one of them has made a name for him/herself, but you will notice that it’s NOT all about themselves, they never fail to mention their family nor their country as well. Very humble and sweet people. I hope Arnel takes Journey, my all time favorite band, down the road MANY years, and to new heights as well because for me, unless Steve Perry comes back, and I’m pretty sure he won’t now, Journey couldn’t do any better than with the incredible voice of Arnel. I would have been a fan of his no doubt if I had ever come across him playing in one of those bands there, I’m sure. Filipinos have inspired me to be a completely different and better person since the very first day I stepped foot in Manila back in ‘89. Nothing or nobody before or since has had such a profound affect on my life like they have. The words of another Pinoy talent Allan Pineda Lindo (apl de ap) from Black Eyed Peas in the song “Bebot” come to mind, namely “ako ay PILIPINO”, (I am Filipino) if only in my heart. One thing I wish and pray for is that we Americans would give them the love and respect they deserve from us. Mabuhay ang Pilipino (long live the Filipino)!
